Linkedin Forward Virtual Event for Talent Leaders
I just came out of the Linkedin Forward virtual event hosted by Mel Robbins and Jay Shetty!
It was all about and “for today's brightest, most forward-thinking talent leaders to discuss the most critical topics shaping the world of work; DIBs strategy, skills-based hiring, and flexible work”.
Aren’t we all leaders, talent leaders? Almost 40 000 people, from all over the world, attended.
Wow… it was huge.
Some of the panelists were: Linkedin Top Executives + world top talent leaders.
How rich and inspiring this was! I got an enormous bunch of reasons and content to explore further.
Here is my choice of quotes and a few takeaways:
- There are untraceable stories in data
- Living experiences and data
- Root causes tells what data doesn’t tells us
- DIBs targets (stands for diversity, inclusion, belonging - I have a crush on the last)
- Re-calibrating
- Do not underestimate the power of the individual
- Mental health counselling
- Leaders’ one-on-one check-ins: “how are you really?”
- To be present doesn’t equal productivity
- When we are happy, we are most productive
- We navigate as things move forward
- Wellbeing
- Mental wellness
- Use clarity to face uncertainty
- Mask breaks in open air
- I hope we don’t go back to normal
- Flexibility will increase
- Recruitment is definitely accelerating since the beginning of the year
- Mobility
- Skills gap
- Skills focus
- KSA (meaning knowledge, skills & abilities)
- Skills not schools
- Growth mindset
- Learning mindset
- Holistic strategy
- Where are we right now and where we want to be?
- Skills focused future
Most common skills for the future:
1 - Digital (we all got that by now, yeap)
2 - Human and the 3Cs: Collaboration, Creativity, Compassion (I'm all for these)
- Upskilling and reskilling
- High internal mobility
- Wellness (again) and counseling services
- Investing in D&I (Diversity & Inclusion)
And finally, Mel Robbins refers to some of the most affected industries in 2020 such as Travel, Hospitality and Education. Thanks Mel for acknowledging! We are and will be struggling for a while, but we’ll get there, hopefully different, better and aligned in the end.
